Nintendo has announced the DSi LL - a new version of the DSi handheld which features larger 4.2" screens.

The handheld will be launched on November 21st in Japan for ¥20,000 (approx US$220).

Nintendo says the larger screens are aimed at those using the device for surfing the web and other multimedia functionality.

The DSi LL will ship with a fat and thin stylus and with two brain training and one dictionary installed. Colours initially available will be natural white, dark brown and wine red.

US launch details have yet to be announced. However Nintendo has confirmed to our friends at VG247 that the DSi LL will be launched in Europe in the first quarter of 2010 and as you'd expect will be more expensive than the regular DSi. While the handheld is known as the LL in Japan it will be known as the XL here in the west.
